If you were to consider the most shocking event that occurred during world war one and two, the first thing that might come to mind would probably be the Holocaust. And it certainly is a significant occurrence, rivaling even the war itself, but not a lot of people know that before this happened, during world war one, the Armenians faced a similar oppression from the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian Genocide was intently executed by the Ottoman Empire for accusation of alignment with the Soviet Union and was concealed under the guise of move due to war. This because I participate in class, I’m always on time, and I think I have a pretty good attitude. Throughout my three years as a drama student, I learned that participation is very crucial when it comes to seeing improvements as a student and an actor. I failed to realize this in both grade nine and ten. This year I tried to participate as often as I could, from reading to volunteering to present first. I’ve always been a punctual person and I really dislike being late. Minimal scripts have limitations when it comes to finding a justifiable way to move about the stage in a natural and realistic manner. Minimal scripts are often very general and having a limit of additional lines making it difficult to explain and portray what is happening within the scene. I was worried that the actions wouldn’t make sense to the audience because of the limit of lines we could add. I was aware of the eight to ten line addition word limit. I happen to write a lot, even if it is for a simple assignment, so I had to cut down my original script to much fewer lines. Every line felt like it helped towards the development of the characters and the scene, but I realized that I can develop the plot with much fewer lines and help the audience understand what’s going on with the manipulation of props, stage setting and movement of the actors. My group had an issue with enthusiasm, whenever we’d rehearse it would be sitting down because they were feeling up to it. We only rehearsed on the stage once, so I was really worried that they wouldn’t remember what to do and remember to use up the entire stage. As a director I should’ve encouraged them a lot more. But despite our lack of enthusiasm we worked very well together. Everyone put in ideas until we developed the idea of Dr, Harvester stealing the organs from young boys. I was happy with my groups performance because despite the fact that we rehearsed on stage once, they did a great job. They made sure to use up the entire stage as well as keeping aware of their positions on stage. There were many great aspects when it came to working with my group, but my favorite would be their creativity. They had so many great ideas and really helped me with developing the script from a minimal script to an amazing script. I really enjoyed Megan, Kevon and Eliza’s performance. The setting of their short play took place in a jail cell, which was pretty creative. They stacked all the blocks together in order to create a wall. Megan and Eliza were on opposite sides of the wall and they were talking about how they can break out of prison. Some groups were so focussed on using the stage space that they forgot to mention or show why that actor is doing that specific movement. I can improve on using the stage to further develop my play by putting more effort in the ground plan. Ground plans is a great tool for directors to use when they’re developing a scene because it can help with the overall picture. It may appear to present a complexity to the initial definition, however when closely reviewed, the constitution says that the spheres are merely interdependent not that they don’t hold separate reins of power. In fact there is further evidence in the constitution to prove the decentralization of power, it states that the different spheres of government have legislative authority (South African Constitution, 1996:44). Indeed, the national and provincial level of government have power, they are only obligated to remain within the borders of the constitution. Also, the fact that all levels of government have a right to be represented in parliament through the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces, shows that there is autonomous power because the procedure to get a law passed, is the same for both national and provincial government. Not only the abovementioned but the fact that each province has a legislature where there is a structure separate from national government and has the power to pass bills that affect the province without having to attain permission from national level. But isn’t it invading our privacy? And our right to live in security? This is journalism the science of ruining or building lives. But primarily its purpose is to expose certain events, critical issues and mainly the lives of people, their private lives that they don’t want other people to know, the exaggerated tales and the gradual destruction of ones life. It is like showing your cards in a poker game without you knowing it, people taking advantage of it and using it against you. Look at the Valerie Plame scandal. After her career has been ruined by exposing her identity as a CIA agent, saying that she have leaked some information as an intelligence officer and making herself a public icon by showing herself in the front page of vanity fair other magazines and newspapers, professional journalists just took off the scene after the case have been dismissed instead of clearing their mistakes. Another example is the paparazzi, they make celebrity lives really difficult and even drive some of them to their deaths because of the stories that they fabricate, the pictures that they took, the private stories and pictures that shouldn’t be known by the public which creates an even more stress and pressure on them. Privacy is an experience that people should have the luxury of using, it is not a piece of data that we can tell everybody whenever we want to, we live in a democratic country, with democratic rights and equal opportunity, we must let everybody have their own piece of security as we do, who would want to live in a world where everything is exposed and there is nothing that you can keep to your self? I wouldn’t and I think no one would want that because if so, why would the government create liberal policy? Why do we want to have security? Journalism is like a disease seeping in every hole in our liberal rights, it is a cancer, a malignant one that we can’t seem to fight easily, but it is possible, I’m not saying that journalism only has disadvantages, we know that everything has two sides yet as we weigh their cons and pros we should know that it is slowly killing our democratic rights as a person and as citizen of this country. Let us prove that we value our freedom more than the interesting stories that this journalist made, let us have a world where there is security and freedom to have a private life that every one of us should deserve. Cure the disease that slowly deteriorates the country and make it a place where there will be no lives that are ruined due to exaggerated stories and expose that the media and journalists made. Heroism Essay In paralyzing situations such as witnessing a crime and saving a life, ordinary people often perform heroic actions far beyond their normal capabilities. To begin with, the action doesn’t have to be the superhero stereotypical story. â€Å"When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic transformation of consciousness.† – Joseph Campbell. This means that in any situation where you put another person before yourself you are being heroic in a way. Maybe you stood up for someone in the hallway that was being bullied and sacrificed how people perceived you as being â€Å"cool†. Or maybe you just performed a random act of kindness for someone for no reason at all. Additionally, heroism can be resisting temptations as well. â€Å"I tell you that there are terrible temptations which it requires strength, strength and courage to yield to.†- Oscar Wilde. Resisting peer pressure is a good example of being heroic. Being excluded from the â€Å"cool† crowd doesn’t sound very fun, but neither does making bad decisions that you’ll have to live with for the rest of your life. Staying away from drugs, and alcohol and those types of things does take courage, a quality of a hero. Therefore, someone who feels compelled to help people, is courageous, is a friend to anyone and everyone, takes time out of their day for someone else, or just does something to brighten someone’s day, is a hero. Ultimately, heroes are people like me and you, anybody with the heart and mindset of one. Whether it’s putting someone before you, defending a friend, or just being a hero to yourself by resisting peer pressure, people are often capable of more heroic action than they think.
